June 18 was one of the China's major shopping holidays, especially for the country's e-commerce sector.
And the China Consumers Association says shoppers are increasingly looking for quality and value.
Data shows that by the end of June 18, the Jingdong's total order amount reached a record high of 379.3 billion RMB, that's about 56.5 billion U.S. dollars,
and a 10% increase compared to last year.
Smart products like home appliances, mobile phones and health products showed a strong performance.
And data from retailer Suning shows that high-quality home appliance increased 37% year on year.
Meanwhile, reports from TikTok show that Shanghai shows the strongest purchasing power and ranks the top nationwide.
The purchasing power of Chongqing, Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou are also at the forefront.
In terms of age distribution, the group born after 2000 has become the new driving force, with their purchasing volume increasing 164% year on year.
The purchasing volume of the post 90s and post 80s also increased by 117% and 101% respectively over the same period last year.
