When staff were having lunch in their canteen, a two-story building in Wulong District of China's southwest Chongqing Municipality on Friday,
they were unaware of the looming danger.
A midday explosion caused the facility to collapse, trapping 26 people.
When the explosion occurred, it was extremely loud, and the air was full of dust.
When it happened, it was so powerful that I almost sprung up from my chair.
We were very frightened because we got no clue what caused the explosion.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but authorities suspect a gas leak.
Hundreds of personnel were involved in the search and rescue mission, and half of them firefighters.
Multiple cranes, fire trucks and ambulances were also dispatched.
Emergency, fire, public security, medical among other forces fully participate in the search and rescue of the trapped and the medical treatment of injured.
Local authorities said many of the 26 people were pulled out alive and sent to hospital.
However, 16 people were later declared dead.
