A health official in Tianjin city said the Omicron variant was detected in a person who arrived from overseas,
the first-known Omicron infection on the Chinese mainland.
The individual is being treated at a designated hospital.
We are closely monitoring the health condition of passengers on the same flight.
The quarantine site will be closely supervised and disinfected, so far it's just the one Omicron case.
And today Guangzhou confirmed a case of Omicron variant,
a 67-year-old man who had flown to Guangzhou on December 11th after spending time overseas.
He tested positive yesterday morning during home quarantine and was immediately sent to a designated hospital for treatment.
As of noon today, we've swabbed more than 10000 people and collected 132 environment samples.
All results have been negative so far, except 4 environment samples from the man's residence.
Everyone who lives in the building has been placed in quarantine.
