A re-screening of two concerts from legendary Chinese singer Jay Chou earned nearly 100 million views over the weekend, it set a record for the streaming of online performances.
On Friday and Saturday night, Chinese music platforms showed two of Jay Chou's concerts -- 2013 the "Ferris Wheel" and his 2019 "Strongest on the Surface".
The events stir up plenty of nostalgia among the singers fans,
more than 30 hashtags related to the concerts trended on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.
The pandemic has somewhat affected people's lifestyle as well as the entertainment industry.
Data suggests the number of live performances in China fell by 25% during the first quarter of 2022 compared with the same period of last year, while ticket revenue dropped by 35%.
But the demand is still there. Some other online concerts gathered a lot of traction over the past several months.
