On the evening of November 1st, Beijing health officials reported that two of the four local COVID-19 transmissions in Chaoyang district came from schools.
Authorities quickly mobilized nucleic acid testing on all teachers, students and personnel of these two schools.
Parents anxiously stood outside the Huajiadi Experimental Primary School's Chaolai campus last night, waiting for their children and their results.
The test should have already finished and we are waiting for the results.
The teacher will inform us in group chats if our children can start online classes tomorrow.
One parent said the school ordered dinner for students after they finished the tests,
and expressed relief seeing videos from the school of their children eating.
So far, eighteen schools in Beijing have been closed, with the deputy director of Chaoyang district saying these institutions will begin online learning.
The school will also assign special personnel to collect and report the health status of students every day.
Teachers will group the students to provide psychological counseling.
From now on, online teaching will be launched so that the children's learning will not be delayed.
Health officials said the test results of the 596 samples collected from the primary school were all negative.
Over a thousand samples were collected from the Chenjinglun Middle School's Donghuwan campus which also showed negative results.
