A catastrophic fire tore through a 24-storey apartment building in West London this week, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens. The fire broke out in the middle of the night while approximately 128 families were sleeping. Residents claimed there were no fire alarms or sprinklers, and many only realized the building was on fire when they were woken by phone calls from concerned friends and family. Over 200 fire fighters battled the blaze and rescued about 68 people from Grenfell Tower. Witnesses say a few people threw their children out windows in a desperate attempt to save them. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
