好些人以为这首诗是德兰修女写的，其实是Kent M. Keith 在 1968年写的。几十年来这首诗在世界各地流传。人们把它挂在墙上，贴在冰箱上。许多的文章，讲词都引用它，网上也在流传。它对每个人都适用：商人，军人，政客，政府官员，教会领袖，大学校长，社会工作者，教员，乐坛红星，为人父母者，教练和学生。德兰修女认为这首诗很有意思，把它放在印度加尔各大儿童院的墙上。

The Paradoxical Commandments

1.People are illogical,unreasonable,and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

2.If you do good,people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

3.If you are successful,you win false friend and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

4.The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

5.Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

6.The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
