The U.S. Commerce Department has extended a standard temporary general license allowing U.S. firms to do business with Huawei. The current license expired today. The Trump administration has decided to extend it by another 90 days until February the 16th, 2020. In a statement, Huawei said the extension does not change the fact that it has been treated unjustly and it will not have a substantial impact on Huawei’s business either way. The US Commerce Department blacklisted Huawei in May following an executive order from President Donald Trump that effectively banned at the company from U.S. communications networks. It required US firms to get a license to do business with Huawei. This is the third reprieve for the Chinese telecom giant after the first one in May and the second in August.
