【词义辨析】
say, speak, state, talk, tell, utter
这些动词均有“说、讲”之意。
say最普通常用词，指用语言表达思想，着重所说的内容。
speak侧重于说话动作的本身，着重说话的能力而不在内容，比如能说某种语言。
state较正式用词，通常指用明确的语言或文字着重地叙述事实，既强调内容又注重语气。
talk普通用词，侧重指与人交谈时的连续说话，可指单方面较长谈话，和speak一样，着重说活动作而不侧重内容。
tell指告诉或讲述。
utter着重说话的行为，常指声音的使用，突出用噪子发声。

used to, be used to, get used to
这三个词组都包含"used"这个单词。
used to意为“过去常常（做某事）”，后接动词原形。常用来表示今昔对比，含“（现在）已不那样做了”之意。
She used to work hard.
她过去工作很努力。（暗指现在工作不努力了。）
be used to有两个含义：①“被用来做某事”，后接动词原形。②“习惯于；适应”，后接名词、代词或v－ing，表示一种状态。
Computers are used to do many things for people now.

【语法用法】
study作名词指“学习”时，可以说the study of Chinese, studies in Chinese, Chinese studies等，但很少说Chinese study。
注意Chinese studies比the study of Chinese范围广，不仅包括汉语还有中国文学。
有的时侯只能用studies，不可用study。

study作名词指“研究的成果”时，后跟介词of或in。

【错句举例与错句分析】
错句: Routine screening for breast cancer is to be extended to older women in a study announced by the Government yesterday.
订正: Routine screening for breast cancer is to be extended to older women according to a Government study.
翻译: 根据一项政府研究，乳腺癌的常规检查范围将扩大到老年妇女。
分析: 不是在研究中扩大检查，而是检查扩大范围。
【词义辨析】
1.learn, study
这两个动词均含“学习”之意。
learn常指一般性的学习，尤指初级阶段的学习，表示摹仿实践的过程；着重成果时，作“学会”解。
study着重指学习过程和高深的或周密的研究，尤指从书本上学习。
2.study, consider, ponder, weigh, contemplate
这些动词均有“考虑、思考、估量”之意。
study普通用词，指对各方面考虑，在制订出计划或采取具体动作之前作认真检查。
consider既指一时的对某事的考虑，也指长时间的深入的思考。
ponder侧重仔细、深入、连续地考虑问题，以作出认真的估计和正确的抉择。
weigh指作出决策前把问题的各个方面进行比较，权衡利害得失，取有利的方面。
contemplate通常指长时间思考某事，有时含无确定的实际目的。
