【词义辨析】
information, data, message
这些名词都含有“资料、信息”之意。
information和data作“资料”解时，前者仅指所获得、提供或描述的慨况，而不指具体的数据或资料，后者则指具体的资料。
data是datum的复数形式，本义指作为计算和测量基础的资料。
message指通过书写、谈话和信号等方式所进行的通讯“信息”。
letter, note, correspondence, message
这些名词均有“信”之意。
letter最普通用词，泛指一切形式的书信，尤指邮寄的信。
note指内容直截了当的短信或便条，正式或非正式均可。
correspondence集合名词，指全部来往信件。
message指书信、口信、电报等。
【例句用法】
The message in the newspaper is unabridged.
报纸上的那则消息是没有经过删节的。

二.assure:vt.使确信, 使放心, 确保
【语法用法】
assure指“使……确信”，不是指“确信”，因此，在使用时要注意在前面加上助动词。
I am assured of his honesty.
我确信他很诚实。
I am assured that he is honest.
不可以直接说I assure his honesty。
涉及到“保险”时，我们习惯用insure，而不是assure，如insure her car。不过assure也有指“保险”的意思，如assure her life指“为她保人寿险”；
在指“确保”时，ensure的用法比assure更加普遍。
His work assured him a degree of happiness.
他的工作确保给他带来了一定程度的幸福感。

第二句的用法更为普遍。
Life assurance通常是指到了指定日期或死亡所支付的特定金额的保险，而insurance通常带一定的风险性，若是在指定的日期内没有死亡，过了那个日期死亡的话，是不会得到保险赔偿的。
