Quirrell's voice trailed away.
奇洛的声音渐渐低得听不见了。
Harry was remembering his trip to Diagon Alley - how could he have been so stupid?
哈利想起了他那次到对角巷去的情景——当时他怎么就没想到呢？
He'd seen Quirrell there that very day, shaken hands with him in the Leaky Cauldron.
他那天明明看见了奇洛，还跟他在破釜酒吧里握过手呢。
Quirrell cursed under his breath.
奇洛压低了声音咒骂着。
"I don't understand... is the Stone inside the mirror? Should I break it?"
“我真不明白……难道魔法石藏在镜子里面？我是不是应该把镜子打破？”
Harry's mind was racing.
哈利脑子里飞快地转动着。
What I want more than anything else in the world at the moment, he thought, is to find the Stone before Quirrell does.
“此时此刻我心里最大的愿望，”他想，“就是赶在奇洛之前我到魔法石。
So if I look in the mirror, I should see myseff finding it — which means I'll see where it's hidden!
所以，如果我对着魔镜照一照，就应该看见自己找到了那块石头——这就意味着我能看到石头藏在哪里！
But how can I look without Quirrell realizing what I'm up to?
可是，我怎样才能在不被奇洛发现的情况下，过去照一照魔镜呢？”
He tried to edge to the left, to get in front of the glass without Quirrell noticing,
他试着悄悄向左边移动，想趁奇洛不注意挪到镜子前面。
but the ropes around his ankles were too tight: he tripped and fell over.
可是，缠住他脚踝的绳索实在太紧了，他绊了一下，摔倒在地。
Quirrell ignored him. He was still talking to himself.
奇洛没有理睬他，还在那里自言自语：
"What does this mirror do? How does it work? Help me, Master!"

And to Harry's horror, a voice answered, and the voice seemed to come from Quirrell himself
