Dumbledore had convinced Harry not to go looking for the Mirror of Erised again, and for the rest of the Christmas holidays the invisibility cloak stayed folded at the bottom of his trunk.

【语法用法】
convince后面可以直接接人，如果表达“说服某人某事”可用“convince…of…”或“convince…that…”的结构。
We hope to convince him of our sincerity.
We hope to convince him that we are sincere.
【错句举例与错句分析】
错句: Nobody can convince Jane to change her mind.
订正: Nobody can persuade Jane to change her mind.
翻译: 没有人能劝间改变主意。
分析: convince表示“使某人确信，信服”，而persuade则表示“说服某人”。
【词义辨析】
induce, persuade, urge, convince, counsel, coax
这些动词均有“劝说、劝导、劝诱”之意。

【语法用法】
against用在fight，strive，struggle等词后面，同with意思相同，不过against更强调一种困难中的反抗。
We fight for the weak against the strong.
作为介词，against后接的宾语有时可省略。
He had intended to come but somehow decided against(it).
【例句用法】
We have saved some money against our old age.
我们存了一些钱，以备老年之用。
There are 26 votes for him and 8 against him.
