fear作动词用，其后一般接不定式或动名词或者that从句，如fear to offend her或者fear offending her或者I fear that I may offend her；
普遍日常用语中，用be afraid比fear更常见，而fear后加lest从句更加不常见。

fear作为名词时，后接that从句也比较常见。

for fear of，for fear that意思为“唯恐”，“以防”，注意fear之前都不加the。

search作动词指“寻找”，后面跟寻找的范围，而search for后面跟寻找的目标，search out则指“找到”。

We are searching for the house.
我们将找寻这房子。We will search out the house.
我们将会找到这房子。
search for和search after都有“努力寻找”的意思。偶尔忘记把东西摆放在哪时，通常用look for，而不用search for或search after；
search作名词，后面跟介词for，偶尔用of。
