【语法用法】
作为介词时，与名词road，river，corridor，line等连用，常指那些有这细长外形的名词。
I saw her running along the road.
涉及到时期或活动时，常用through，如through the centuries（NOT along the centuries）和all through the journey（NOT all along the journey）。
【词义辨析】
across, along, over, through
这些前置词均有“横过、穿过”之意。
across指“从……的一边到另一边”，强调横过，多与动态动词连用。
along指沿着一条直线在水平方向上运动。一般表动态，有时也与静态动词连用。
over常和动态动词连用，指“从……上面越过”或“横越”；表静态时，指“在彼处”。
through侧重从一端穿到另一端。
【例句用法】
Growing along the river are tall palm trees.
沿着这条河生长的是高大的棕树。

【语法用法】
call someone表示“唤醒某人”或“高声唤某人而叫某人来”，在美国，还有“打电话给某人”的解释；
表示某人名叫什么，可用be called。
He is called Mark.
他名叫马克。
call后加不同介词再加宾语时，表示不同含义：
call to sb表示“高声唤某人”。
call on和call at都表示“短暂的拜访”，但是后者后面接地点。
The chairman called on her to say a few words.
警察拜访了她，问了些话。
call upon sb表示“请求某人”，偶指“拜访某人”。
call for sb可表示“拜访某人然后跟他一同出去”，或者表示“吩咐别人叫某人来”。
call sb up表示“打电话给某人”；
call没有“吩咐某人做什么”的意思，可以用动词tell或ask来代替call去表示。call sb to do表示“高声唤某人做某事”，如call him to help me有“高声唤他来帮助我”的意思；
短语call for的用法：
可表示“需要”的意思，其后可加不定式。
The work is important enough to call for us to exercise great care.
这项工作很重要，我们需要很小心谨慎。
还可表示其他意思，如句子The meeting was called for I July表示“会议被决定在7月8日召开”。
