Wildlife reserves in Kenya are being threatened after a loss of tourism dollars due to the coronavirus pandemic. The tourism sector has so far lost as 750 million US dollars this year, and that's roughly half the total revenue of 2019. Locals who earn a living from tourists are struggling, like the Masai ethnic group, which rents its land to private wildlife conservationists. Aside from selling their animals, authorities are concerned they could be forced to offload their land to people building businesses. But there's hope, with Kenya announcing the resumption of international flights from the 1st of August which could help jumpstart the sector.
