Some airlines are re-routing flights to avoid Iran-controlled airspace over the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. This comes after the US aviation regulator barred its carriers from the area until further notice. British Airways says it will adhere to the FAA guidelines and use alternative routes. Gulf Air has announced that it is evaluating flight path changes and working with authorities on contingency plans should the situation escalate father. German carry on Lufthansa also says it has stopped flying over parts of Iran. But is still serving flights to Tehran. Iran Sayville Civil Aviation Organization has released a statement in response saying the country's airspace is safe for airliners to fly through.
