Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has fired 20 officials on charges of corruption. Those sacked which include some colonels and a general are accused of being involved in 17 cases of fraud and graft related to the purchases of military medical supplies. Rein in the abuse of government power was one of the Duterte's key election promises. Meanwhile the president is also a big supporter of the country security forces. He's promised higher salaries, more equipment and a boost to their budget to allow them to better tackle crime, drugs and rebellions.
