In India, at least as 16 people have died in an explosion and a fireworks factory in the northern state of Punjab. Local media reports some 50 people are feared trapped in the facility. Authorities say rescue operations are now underway. The blast comes weeks ahead of Diwali in the famous Hindu festival of lights which is marked by revelers setting off thousands of firecrackers.
