Now the re-imposed US sanctions were in place prior to 2015 and were lifted after the landmark nuclear deal signed that year. The sanctions banned the supply of heavy weaponry and nuclear related technologies to Iran, blocked arms exports and frozen assets of key individuals and companies. Meanwhile before the deal the European Union restricted Iran's trade on uranium enrichment and financial transactions as well as trade of crude oil and natural gas. Well the latest US sanctions will target Iran's energy, shipping and financial sectors. They are particularly aimed at Iran's crude oil exports and will penalize the countries and foreign companies that trade with certain Iranian entities. Sanctions list includes more than 700 individuals, entities, vessels and aircraft.
