1. It does seem odd that my third cousin should be a doctor.

结构剖析：含有主语从句的复合句。

（1）主句是：It does seem odd，从句是：that my third cousin should be a doctor。

（2）主语从句中使用了虚拟语气——should be a doctor。当主句有odd（奇怪的）这个形容词时，后面跟有从句的话，从句要使用虚拟语气，谓语结构为should+动词原形。

联想记忆：Odd这个词是“奇怪的”的意思，那么strange在一个句子中后面接有从句话，同样要使用虚拟语气，谓语结构同样是should+动词原形。

2. You'd think the sea would have taken more of them.

结构剖析：这是含有宾语从句的复合句。

（1）主句是you think，从句是the sea would have taken more of them.

（2）主句和从句都使用了虚拟语气，主句的是would think，这个是对现在这个时候（也就是他们悼念仪式完后在说话的这个时候），因此用一般过去时——you would think（你会想到），但是事实上，现在大家都没有想到，与现在的客观事实相反。

（3）从句时对过去的事情的虚拟，所以用的是过去完成时，would have taken more of them（大海吞噬了更多的乘客的生命），然而事实上并非他们所认为的，与过去的客观事实相反。
