1. shame

1. one’s heir to something
讲解:这个名词性短语,注意heir的后面的介词一定是to,不能用of。意思是“某人的(头衔,财产等)的继承人”,也可以拓展指“某人的(优点)承袭者”。
例句:He is an heir to his father's fine brain.
他承袭了他父亲的聪明头脑。
He was the true heir to the estate.
他是这个庄园的合法继承人。
He fell heir to a large fortune.
他成了一大笔财产的继承人。
2. push in
讲解:push是动词,意思是“推”,in在这里是副词,表示“进到(屋子)里”的意思,因此,push in意思就是“推门进来”。
例句:Amos used to push in where he was not wanted.
艾莫斯经常不招自来,到处乱闯。
3. get to do something
讲解:get to在这里的意思是“逐渐”,get to do something的意思是“逐渐做某事”。
例句:After taking a sedative she was able to get to sleep.
