Unit 20 Muddy Puppy
第20单元 脏兮兮的小狗

The first dog I ever had was named Alley. She was a very fluffy and happy dog, but that is not how she looked when we first found her.
我第一只养的狗名叫“巷子”，它是只毛茸茸很快乐的狗，不过当我第一次发现它的时候，它并不是这样的。

I remembered that day very clearly. My brother and I were walking down the back alley of some buildings. It was a very cold and windy day. We walked between the buildings so their walls could protect us from the chill. The wind whistled so loudly we almost missed the small cry coming from behind some cardboard boxes.
我记得很清楚，那一天和我哥哥走在几栋房子的后巷。天气很冷，还刮着风，我们走在房子之间，好让墙挡住寒冷。风呼呼作响，我们差点就没听到几个纸箱后头传来的微弱声。

Luckily, my brother heard the whimper and we looked behind the boxes. There lay a small animal that looked like a puppy, but because it was covered in mud, we weren’t sure.
幸好我哥哥听到哀嚎声，我们往纸箱后头一看，那里躺着一只看起来像是小狗的动物，不过因为它全身沾满泥巴，所以我们并不确定。

We scooped up the small creature, took it home and bathed it. Once the water had washed away the mud, we found a sweet little puppy. We called her Alley because that is where we rescued her.
我们抱起这只小动物，带它回家，并帮它洗澡，当水冲掉它身上的泥巴时，我们发现它是一只很可爱的小狗。因为我们是在巷子里救它的，所以我们替它取名字叫“巷子”。

Alley grew up and was a very loyal and kind dog. I will always remember Alley.
“巷子”后来长大，成为一只忠心友善的狗，我会永远记得“巷子”。
