第12 单元 发薪名单里的彼特
Two men sit down for lunch in the office cafeteria.
有两个人坐在办公大楼的自助餐厅里吃中餐。
"Hey, whatever happened to Pete in payroll?" one asked.
“喂，发薪名单里怎么没有彼特，他到底是怎么了？”其中一人问道。
"He got this harebrained notion he was going to build a new kind of car" his coworker replied.
“他想要打造一种新的车款，不过想法太轻率了。”他的同事回答。
"How was he going to to it?"
“他干了什么事？”
"He took an engine from a Pontiac, tires from a Chevy, seats from a Lincoln, hubcaps from a Caddy and, well, you get the idea."
“他把庞蒂克的引擎、雪佛兰的轮胎、林肯的座椅、开迪的轮轴盖拼凑在一起，知道了吧？”
"So what did he end up with?"
“那结果怎样?”
"Ten years in prison."
“要吃十年牢饭。”
