Mary:We need to update the software we are using.

John:Duly noted. I will check up on it.

Obviously, the answer is Duly noted. Duly is an adverb which means in the correct or expected manner. In general, to be noted means to be well known because of a special skill or feature. Let’s look at two examples: He’s noted for his sense of humor. I am a noted ballet dancer. However, it means understand here.

In addition, here is an useful phrase：tocheck up on(something). It means to examine and make sure of something. For another example:

1.We' d better check up on how things are going with us.

2.We need to check up on this information at once.

Another situational dialogue, let’s take a look at:

Richard:May I say how lovely you look today?

Rose:Duly noted.
