I have bought his books called The Course of American English. 昨天我们学了一个地道口语，a labour of love 是心甘情愿做而且无报酬的困难的事情。我非常同意赖世雄老师的英语学习方法。赖世雄老师著有很多书，其中有一套是美语教程，有初级，中级和高级。这是他在中央人民广播电台教英语是的教学资料。即便现在，睡前我还是要翻翻他的初级教程，给我的教学中带来很多启发。时隔10多年，我没有看一个英文单词，但是我很快就把以前的东西捡回来了，那是因为我以前自己也是像赖世雄老师那样学英语的。So today we'll go to learn the dialogue. 好，我们今天就来体验一下赖世雄老师的英语学习法。

1 in this sentence "understand " means "to know or realize why or how something happens , how it works or why is important". For example: I cannot understand him taking the money. 我真想不通他为何要去偷钱。Here we have a phrase structure which is "understand+somebody+present participle". 在这里注意understand 的这个用法，动词加上人加上现在分词，意思是理解某人做某事，现在分词在这里作宾语的补足语。
2 In this sentence "accept " means "to continue in a difficult situation without complaining because you realize you cannot change it". 这里有容忍，忍耐的意思在里面。For example: You just have to accept the fact that we've never going to be in rich. 我们只得接受我们永远富裕不起来的现实。
【文法】此句中why Tom accept his present job在这里是宾语从句。

【翻译】这跟工作薪水低而且占用很多闲暇时间。
【要点】1 In this sentence "pay " means "to give somebody for work, goods, services ". Here is a set phrase : pay somebody for something. For example: I'll pay all of you for the tickets. 我来帮大家买票。
2 “Occupy”in this sentence means "to fill or use a space , an area, or an amount of time ". The meaning of "take up" is similar to it. For example: How much memory does the programme occupy? 这个程序占用多少内存。Administrative work occupies half of my time. 行政工作占用了我一半的时间。
【文法】在这句话中，low 作为副词用，much 作为代词用， of his much free time 介词短语修饰前面的代词 much. 并列连词and 在此句中表递进关系，译为“而且”。

【要点】In this sentence "just" means "exactly". For example : this jacket is just my size. 这件夹克这是我的尺码。How should we put "我就是这么倒霉"， all right , here is a short sentence: Just my luck, which means "the sort of bad luck I usually have". Let's look a sentence: Just my luck , the phone is not working . 我就是这么倒霉，电话又坏了。Oaky , what's the English for "你来得正是时候"？It is "You are just in time." And what's the translation of "我正是这么想的。"？It is "This is just as I thought."。这里注意just的用法可以和引词as 连用，还可以和like 连用，for example: He looks just like her mother. 他看上去就像他的妈妈。还可以跟what连用，for example: It's just what I wanted. 这正是我想要的。just可以和as, like, what连用，有强调的意味在里面。不要小看一个词，他很值得我们去品味一番，小小一个词却能传达出我们丰富的思想感情。
【文法】just 是副词，在这里作为状语。

【要点】In this sentence "great"means "to be very good in ability or quality and therefore admired by many people". 意思是：优秀的，杰出的，卓越的，伟大的。For example: He is a great writer. 他是一个赫赫有名的作家。He has been described as the world's greatest violinist. 他被称为世界上最杰出的小提琴家。Great art has the power to change lives. 伟大的艺术品有改变人们生活的魅力。
【文法】really 在这里是副词，作状语用，放于系动词后。
