【名词语法用法】

Lack作为名词，要表示缺乏匮乏短缺的意思时，通常和介词of搭配，即：lack of。我们来看下面的例句来看具体如何用：

Eg. The accused got off scot-free because of lack of evidence.由於证据不足，被告未受惩罚。

注解：Scot-free是一个副词，意思是不受处罚地, 平安地等等。它通常与escape或者是get off连用作为一个习惯用语，即：go off /escape scot-free 意思是免纳税款，免受惩罚，免遭损害，安然逃脱，逍遥法外。

Eg. The project had to be abandoned for lack of funds.工程因资金匮乏只得放弃。

注解：abandon放弃 for lack of funds =because of lack of funds

Eg. The trip was cancelled through lack of interest.这次旅行因缺乏兴趣而被取消了。

【动词语法运用】

Lack 作为动词，它后面直接接名词。

Eg. She has the determination that her brother lacks. 她有这决心，但是他兄弟缺乏这决心。

Eg. They lacked the money to send him to university. 他们没钱送他上大学。

lack for nothing

It means " to have anything that you have". It is an idiom.中文意思是应有尽有，不缺乏东西。

Eg. As the only child of wealthy parents, he lacks for nothing. 有钱人家的小孩是应有尽有。

【形容词语法运用】

Lacking 是形容词。It means "not be available when needed ". 中文意思是不敷所需。

Eg. Money for the project is still lacking.进行这个项目的钱还没有着落。

Eg. He was taken on as a teacher, but he was found lacking. 他被聘用为老师，但是发觉他能力却一般。（find sb +adj. ）

作为形容词，要表示缺乏的意思，要与介词in连用，即：be lacking in sth 。它的意思是not have enough of sth。中文意思是不足，不够。

Eg. The film was lacking in pace. 这部影片不紧凑。

Eg. She was not usually lacking in money. 她平时不缺钱。
