第六、我们可以说jump down one's throat。It is an American slang. 它是一个美国街头与。In English, it means " to react angrily". 中文意思是愤怒地反驳；愤怒地驳斥；突然对某人动怒；严厉地斥责；愤怒地指责。我们通过下面的例句来熟悉这个习语的意思。

例句1：All right, he was wrong, but did you have to jump down his throat in front of everybody? 是的，是他错了，但是你就非得当着大伙的面训斥他吗? 例句2：The teacher jumped down Billy's throat when Billy said he hadn't done his homework. 当Billy说自己没有做家庭作业时，老师对Billy进行了严厉地批评。

Jump down one's throat除了有严厉地指责的意思，它还有突然粗暴地回答突然打断某人的话说话带火药味等等意思。 我们来看下面的例句：

例句1：He jumped down my throat at the mention of his wife. 一提他妻子他就暴跳如雷。

注解：At the mention of sth/sb意思是一提到某人或某物的时候，在提到......的时候，提及......时候。它是一个表示时间的介词短语，在句中用作时间状语。例如：My father is brightened up at the mention of tea. （备注：brighten sb up使......高兴）一提到茶，我父亲就高兴起来。Mary colored up at the mention of her boy friend's name. （备注：color up 脸红 例如：The little girl colored up when she realized that we were watching her drawing. 当小女孩意识到我们正在看着她画图时，她脸红起来了。）玛丽一听到人家提她男朋友的名字便脸红了。

例句2： He is a tartar, each time I met him he would jump down my throat. 他是个刺头（他是个难对付的人），我每次遇到他，他都那么火气十足。

注解：Tartar ['tɑ:tə] means "a person in a position of authority who has a very bad temper".中文意思是凶悍的人；难对付的人；脾气暴躁的人。What is more, this word is old-fashioned. 此外，这个词在旧时候流行。

例句3： I heard you and there's no need to jump down my throat. 我听你的话了, 但是你也没必要粗暴地与我讲话。

注解：There is no need to do sth可以视为一个口语句型，意思是没有必要做某事。例如：I'm satisfied with your explanation, so there is no need to expand on it. 我对你的解释很满意，因此无需再作详细说明。We all know how wonderful you are. There is no need to show off. 我们都知道你很出色，没必要再买弄。（备注：show off 炫耀，卖弄 例如：Mike has only driven to the pub to show off his new car-he usually walks! 麦克驾车来到酒店，只是为了向大家炫耀他的那辆新车，他平时总是步行来的！She likes to show off her fine clothes. 她喜欢炫耀她的精美衣服。He wrote in that style just to show off. 这种文体写文章，完全是为了卖弄文采。）
