1. slack

双语释义：(of a person) giving little care and energy to a task

[adj.]（指人）懈怠的, 疏忽的

典型范例：He's been getting slack and making silly mistakes.

第二、短语精讲

1. come out

讲解：这是动词性笃固定短语。《柯林斯词典》中解释道：When a new product such as a book or CD comes out, it becomes available to the public. 它是指(书或光盘)出版，发行。

范例：Christian Slater has a new movie coming out next month in which he plays a vigilante.

克里斯汀·史莱特有一部新片下月发行，他在片中扮演一个治安维持会成员。

2. save the day

讲解：这是美国俚语，字面意思是“挽救了一天”。在俚语词典中解释如下：to do something that solves a serious problem。可以翻译为：反败为胜，转危为安，化险为夷，扭转局面，挽救局面。

范例：The forest was nearly out of control when suddenly it rained heavily and saved the day.

森林大火几乎控制不住, 但突然下起大雨, 转危为安。

3. hire somebody as...

讲解：这个短语结构中的as是介词，意思是“作为”，它后面跟表示某种职位的名词，即：hire somebody as something意思是“雇佣某人做什么工作”。

范例：I would like to hire Mary as my private secretary.

我想雇佣玛丽做我的私人秘书。

Do you want to hire somebody as your temporary wife?

4. be good at

讲解：be good at是定容性固定短语，意思是“擅长于......”。介词at后面可以接名词或者是动名词（短语）。那么台词中还出现be great at something，这个表示程度更深，翻译为极为“擅长于......”。类似的表达还有“be skilled at”。它的反义词是be weak at。

范例：He is good at his job but he seems to lack confidence.

他工作不错，但似乎缺乏信心。

He is great at managing money matters.

他很会理财。

He is good at initiating projects but rarely follows through with anything.

他颇能提方案，但干什么事情都很少坚持到底。

My husband is great at making political speeches.
