With Covid-19 making us see trains and buses as biohazards, cycling to work has never felt so appealing.

A survey of 2,000 people found that 53pc are now considering cycling to work, with two thirds eager to avoid public transport. Transport for London has predicted a ten-fold surge in bike journeys.

Keen to promote the health, environmental and social distancing benefits of cycling, the government has issued a £250 million emergency fund to introduce pop-up bike lanes and other road upgrades.
