Walmart said it would buy Jet.com for $3.3 billion. The giant American retailer is ramping up its internet strategy to compete with Amazon. Walmart’s online forays started 15 years ago, but last year contributed just 3% to total sales; Jet’s business, by contrast, has soared over the past two years as it has encouraged bulk buying.
