But amazingly

people all over the world

uploaded lots and lots and lots of video

and it just went into a database of Google that nobody could see

So a Friday night later

we got together and decided to watch some of these videos and see

We opened the first video and waited

It was of a purple furry puppets

It was probably one of the first user generated videos anyone had ever seen

and honestly, I had no idea what to think

We played that video a lot

The videos were unusual

I hadn't seen anything like it before

importantly everyone wanted to see more of them

We started building out a platform called Google Video

for users to upload and see their videos

And every day we're getting more and more uploads to Google Video

We had our first hit

And it wasn't from where you thought it would be from

It was 2 college students, 2 Chinese college students in their dorm room

And in spite of this, it became the first video to reach 1 million views

That clip gave us an insight about the future video
