On the grand occasion when the fifth China-Asian Expo "Investment Promotion Conference of the Lao PDR" is held, on behalf of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, I would like to express my congratulations to its opening,; to the distinguished guests and friends present, I would like to express royal welcome and sincere greeting! //

Laos is China's friendly neighbouring country, the traditional friendship between the two people has a long history. Entering the new century, guided by the principles of "long-term stabilization, good neighbourly friendliness, mutual trust, comprehensive co-operation", the China-Laos relations have been developing in a healthy and stable manner. // The trade cooperation between the two sides has developed in different levels and in multi-fields. The cooperation in trade, investment and labor service has been expanding year on year.

With such good background, the cooperation between Guangxi and Lao has also entered a new phase of comprehensive development.Guangxi attaches great importance to developing business and economic cooperation with Lao. The two sides have strong complementarity in economic structure, industrial structure and resource structure grade, which implies great potential for our cooperation. // Not long ago, as the "Guangxi Beibu Bay Economic Region Development Project" gained the approval of the state government, China-ASIAN Expo develop into an important platform for regional economic cooperation, and Guangxi is embracing a precious historical opportunity in its opening to the outside world and economic development. // Guangxi passed the Decision to Implement the Three-Year Scheme Of Scientific Development, putting in priority the development of industry, the development of transportation and the development of Gangxi Beibu Bay Economic Region. // In the following 5 years, Guangxi will give first rank to the development of industry, to realize in 2012 the total industrial output value of 1.6 trillion yuan. // In the following 5 years, Guangxi will invest over 300 billion Yuan to fuel a new surge of transportation construction, to make Guangxi a hub of transportation connecting China's traffic network to ASEAN countries. // In the following 5 years, we will build Guangxi Beibu Bay Economic Region into a logistic depot, a business and trade base, a processing manufacturing base and an information exchange hub and make it into an important regional economic cooperation region with high degree of opening, strong radial force and booming economy. //

Ladies and gentlemen,I am sure that through the promotion conference as well as joint efforts of our two governments and entrepreneurs, the trade co-operation between the two sides will reap more plentiful and substantial fruits.
