When I was waiting in line at the bank , I noticed a woman holding a small child at one of the windows. The boy was eating a roll ,which he thrust at the teller. The teller smiled and shook his head.

当我在银行里排队时，发现一位妇女抱着一个小孩站在一个窗口。男孩正在吃一个面包卷，并将面包卷戳向出纳员，出纳员笑着摇了摇头。

"No, no, dear," said the boy's mom. and then , turnning to the teller , "I beg your pardon , young man. Please forgive my son . He's just been to the zoo."

“别这样，亲爱的，” 男孩的妈妈说。然后她转向出纳员说，“对不起，小伙子。请原谅我的儿子，他刚去过动物园。”

1.waiting in line

wait 是个不及物动词。

不及物动词的意思就是不能直接加宾语。宾语就是这个动词动作的承受者。

就以wait为例。wait的宾语也就是“等”的对象。因为wait是不及物动词，虽然中文中可以是“等我”，但是英文中就不能直接翻译为“wait me”，因为wait是不及物动词，后面必须加上与这个动词搭配的介词才能加上宾语，而与wait搭配的介词就是for，要加宾语就要加上for，于是“等我”就应该翻译为“wait for me”而不能是“wait me”。

wait for，固定组合：等，等待某人或某事的发生. wait for me; wait for dinner。

2.notice

用法：notice sb .doing sth注意到某人做某事

短语：take notice of 注意到

come to one's notice引起某人注意

bring sth. to sb's notice提醒某人注意某事

give sb. notice向某人发出解雇、停租通知

until further notice直至另行通知
