我们都知道第一印象非常重要。如果您第一次就给对方一个好印象，您会一路走得潇洒顺利。倘若您给对方第一次就是不好的印象，那么是可想而知今后的路是荆棘遍地。

今天，我们就来学学用“五星级”表达法来表示“开门红，开门彩”这个意思，说得通俗点就是“（做某事）一开始就很顺利”，做某事一开始就很顺利，当然就会让对方觉得您很有能力，就会让对方留下一个好印象。好了，我们来看下面的例子：

Her very first day at work, the new girl got off on the right foot by making a profit for the company. 这句话是说：这个新来的女孩上班 的第一天就为公司赚了钱，一开始就很顺利。

在这句话中，这个五星级的表达法是：get off on the right foot，其定义为 “to begin doing something in a way that is likely to succeed”。下面，我们来细看上面这个句子，在这个句子中，我们还要注意3个要点。

第一个是表示“正在工作，正在上班”的介词短语：at work。这是一个固定短语，不要在work前面使用任何冠词。Let’s look at the following examples：He had an accident at work.（他在工作中出了一次事故。）He did very little on his first day at work.（他头一天上班工作做得很少。）

第二个是表示“获利，赚钱”的动词短语：make a profit。在此注意profit作为“利润”这意思，是可数名词。表示在……上获利，赚钱，在短语的后面用介词on，即：make a profit on something。 表示为……赚钱，获利，在短语后用介词for，即：make a profit for somebody。For two mroe examples：One cannot make a profit unless the hogs are fed properly.（如果缺乏合理的饲养，养猪也不赚钱。）This is a promising project. You can make a profit on it.（这是一项有希望的计划，你可因此获利。）

第三个要点是表示“因……而获得开门彩”，在get off on the right foot的后面用上介词by，即为：get off the right foot by somehting。句中说到的是got off on the right foot by making a profit for the company（因为公司赚了大钱而获得开门彩）。在此，注意由于by是介词，后面跟动词的话，要使用动名词形式。

为了让大家熟练体会到get off on the right foot的意思和用法，我们再来看几个例子：

We like to start our meetings on time, and we got off on the right foot this morning. （我们喜欢准时开会，今天早上的会议进行得很顺利。）

I think you get off on the right foot with your colleagues. （我想你应该和你的同事搞好关系。）
