在今天的课上，我们来学习关于nod的用法。我们想表示“朝着某人点头示意”“对着某人点头致意”，我们可以用它来表示。那么如何具体运用呢？Let’s look at the following examples：

e.g. The president nodded to the crowd as he passed in the motorcade. 当总统的军队经过时，他向人群点头致意。

e.g. She nodded at him to begin speaking. 她点头示意他开始发言。

在Example-1中，表示“向某人致意”，用的是nod to sb. ，而在Example-2中，表示这个意思则是用nod at sb.。由此，我们可以看到表示朝着某人点头的那个人具体是谁，就需要在其后面使用介词to或者是at，即：nod at /to sb.。To nod to/at someone means “to move your head down and up once to say hello to sb. or give them sign to do something”.

我们来关心一下Example-2，句中nod at him to begin speaking，意思是“点头示意他发言”。那么，表示“点头示意某人做某事”，我们就可以用到这个结构nod at sb. to do sth.，其中的to do sth.从整个句子中来看是做目的状语。Let’s look at another example：

e.g. He lifted the end of the canoe, nodding to me to take up mine. 他一边抬起独木舟的一端，一边扬头示意我抬起我这端。

这个例句中，nodding to me to take up mine意思是“点头示意叫我抬起这端”。此外，nodding to me to take up mine是现在分词做伴随状况状语。
