sake n.理由；缘故；或者 目的；利益
通常使用这样的结构：for the sake of + 名词。表示“为了……起见”。
She changed into old clothes for the sake of comfort.
为了舒适，她換上了旧衣服。
Don't let your daughter go out in the middle of the night for the sake of her safety .
为了你女儿的安全起见，不要让你的她半夜出去。
He is going to live by the coast for the sake of his health.
他为了自己的健康，打算到海滨地区去居住。
刚说到的for the sake of something也可以用for ...'s sake来表示。省略号之处您可以用很多名词来代替，注意是名词。比如：
He loves poetry for beauty's sake. 他因为诗歌美而喜欢诗歌。
这里的beauty就是名词，也是构成他喜欢诗歌的原因
依样画葫芦，“我们为了方便起见才这么做”怎么表达呢？
We did it for convenience's sake. 我们为了方便起见才这么做。
For safety's sake, don't drive more than 30 kilometers per hour in the city.
为了安全起见，在市内开车 时速不要超过三十公里。
安全的形容词是safe，那注意在刚提到的结构中，我们要填入名词—safety。
还有一个常用的表达：for god’s sake 看在上帝份上。
For god's sake, don't tell him! 行行好，请别告诉他!
For God's sake stop dithering and make up your mind! 看在上帝面上，别再犹豫了，快拿定主意吧！
有人问，make up one's mind我知道是什么意思，表示“作出决定，拿定主意”，那dither是什么意思啊？这个单词我可不熟。Ok，dither既可以做动词，也可以做名词。做名词表示“抖，发抖”。比如：
The sight of the policeman made the murderer all of a dither.
一见到警察，那个谋杀者吓得浑身发抖。
在你冷得发抖的时候，你在会想我到底该怎么办，是加些衣服呢，还是开空调。开空调很费电，加衣又很麻烦。这样你就犹豫不决了。这就是dither的第二个意思——犹豫。比如：
He tends to get all of a dither when there are many possible choices.
面临很多选择时,他便会犹豫不决。
Dither表示“犹豫”的时候，通常做动词使用。
Stop dithering about which film you want to see or you'll miss them both!
到底看哪一部影片，别再犹豫了，不然的话，两部影片你都要耽误了！
We're still dithering over whether to marry. 我们仍在犹豫要不要结婚。
想说一句话，顺便复习一下上一节学到的表达：Don't get married just for the sake it. 不要为了结婚而结婚。
