在今天的课堂上，我们要来学习的内容是与Acquaintance相关的一个Idiom。如果您要表示that you know（所了解的，所认识的），您就可以用到这个Idiom：of one’s acquaintance。我们通过下面的例句来看看如何运用它。

e.g. No one else of my acquaintance was as rich or successful. 我认识的人当中，没有一个人如此富有或者成功。

e.g. Most medical men of his acquaintance, like the majority of people nowadays, lived right up to their incomes. 他所认识的大多数医生，就象现代大多数人一样过着收支相抵的生活。

在Example-1中，no one else of my acquaintance中的no one else的意思是“没有其他人”，of my acquaintance的意思是“我所认识的”，no one else of my acquaintance的意思即为：我所认识的人当中没有其他人。

在Example-2中，most medical men of his acquaintance中的most medical men的意思是“大多数医生”，of his acquaintance的意思是“他所认识的”，most medical men of his acquaintance的意思即为：他所认识的大多数医生。

What is more，there are some treasures we can pick up。The first one is：表示数量名词短语the majority of，意思是“……中的大多数”。例如： The majority of sex offenders have a low opinion of themselves.（大多数性犯罪者都瞧不起自己。）

The second one is：live up to something，意思是“达到……”或“不辜负”。例如： live up to the high standard of the school（达到这所学校的高标准要求），live up to its name （不负盛名，名副其实）。live up to what others expected of her（不辜负别人对她的期望），那么例句中的live up to their incomes是指“过着收支相抵的生活”。
