【词义辨析】
1.calculate, count, compute, reckon,
calculate: 通常指要求细致精确和复杂的计算,以解决疑难问题,多用于自然科学、生产部门或要求专门计算的场合。
count: 指逐一计算而得出总数。
compute: 一般指已有数据的,较简单但数字长的数学运算。
reckon: 通常指较简单的数学计算,也可指心算。
2.consider, think, believe, count, deem, reckon, regard,
consider: 指经过考虑和观察后得出的结论。
think: 普通用词,指按照自己的意见提出看法。
believe: 通常指根据一定的证据,经思考后而认为属实。
count: 指作出判断后而得出的看法等。
deem: 正式用词,常用于法律、文学,强调作判断而不是思考。
reckon: 指对人或事作全面权衡,把各方面意见考虑进去后得出结论。
regard: 侧重凭外表或表面现象作判断。多强调观点。

二.Where did you hear that?
hear:【词语用法】
hear同see,watch,feel,notice等感观动词一样,其宾语后所接的不定式不含to。
I often hear her sing.
我常听到她唱歌。
但是,hear用于被动语态时,不定式中要含to。
She is often heard to sing.
hear的宾语后既可接不定式,也可接动名词,但是在表示故意听……时,只能用不定式。
I often hear her sing.
I often hear her singing.
hear him表示听见他,不管是听到讲话,唱歌,读书等,均可;
hear of sb表示听说过某人,不一定用耳朵去听,在报道上看到的也可以。
I have heard of the hero through the press.
我曾在报刊上读到过这个英雄。
hear from可表示收到……寄来的信,后可接表示人或地方的词。
I hear from him every week.
I have not heard from England for several months.
要注意的是,在回信时,开首提及收到对方的信,习惯上用receive your letter来代替hear from you。
hear from ... that/how等不一定表示收到……的信,可以是听说等其他含义。
I have heard from your father that you are in Beijing.
hear的宾语后有时可接过去分词。
I have often heard you spoken of as a model student.
hear同listen的比较:hear一般指听到一些东西进入到我们的耳朵里,而listen一般用于去注意一些声响,这些声响是进行中的。
You can hear something without wanting to, but you can only listen to something deliberately.

错句:I heard him to start the car and drive away quickly.
纠正:I heard him start the car and drive away quickly.
翻译:我听到他发动汽车的声音了,很快就开走了。
