此语的字面意义为把落在篱笆上的分散的羊毛收集起来，引申指“紊乱状态，胡思乱想”。例如：I’m tired of his constant wool gathering. I wish he would concentrate on his work （我真受不了他老是那样心不在焉，希望他集中心思工作。）

A:How ridiculous that he didn't know we have exam today!

A:真滑稽，他竟然不知道今天有考试。

B:Quite normal.
