Snow Patrol 来自苏格兰的格拉斯高，低调而华丽。一贯的莫名感伤，一贯的暧昧忧郁，一贯的恍然若失……是典型到非常的英伦吉他摇滚。以前在听 Coldplay，别人说英伦，我不明所以，但现在，我竟然完全了解了。我想是因为相比 Chris 的高亢尖锐的假音，Snow Patrol 的主唱把声似乎更适合这种迷离的演绎。平实而低调，反正就是那么耐听；而且风格也比较重，我自己都将其纳为 Alt.Rock 了，哈。“Run”，又是在 Live9 听到的，当时很感触，遂想：如果我必须哭，这就叫理由（嘿）！歌曲出自专辑《Final Straw》，去年收录于《Now 57》。來自北愛爾蘭冷冽的氣候之下，雪巡員的音樂肌里卻多了一份芳草碧連天的舒適情懷。
曾幾何時, 英國唱片公司 Jeepster 是流行樂壇中的一股清泉，這池泉水內蘊釀了 (曾經) 清純樸實的 Belle & Sebastian，充滿大自然氣息的 Salako，還有平易近人的 Snow Patrol~ 今天，Belle & Sebastian 已簽約到 Rough Trade 旗下, 新作亦發表在即；而另一邊 Snow Patrol 又已轉投主流唱片公司，推出這張新唱片“Final Straw”，剩低久久未有新作發表的 Salako，一下子竟令這清泉變得黯淡無光~
轉投 Rough Trade 後的 Belle & Sebastian 風格如何，待新大碟稍後面世自有分曉; 而寄居於 Polydor 的 Snow Patrol 新作已急不及待跟大家見面~ Snow Patrol 的靈魂人物 Gary Lightbody 創作力無容置疑，去年才推出第二張大碟的格拉斯哥超級大集會組合the Reindeer Section，查實亦是由 Gary 主力負責作曲的工作~ 去年聽過 the Reindeer Section 的新唱片感覺還算不錯，保持一貫田園風味，那 Gary 有為自己的樂隊留起點點美好的旋律嗎？
今天 Snow Patrol 從家鄉小鎮走到大城市，幸而他們並沒有忘記令他們成名的，倒是昔日鄰家男孩式的流行搖滾樂~“How to Be Dead”，“Wow”，“Chocolate”和“Ways & Means”簡單純樸，每每甚至不過是把數句 catchy 的樂句不停重複而已，但聽到 Gary 細訴愛情中甜酸苦辣的年青歌詞，總能給歌曲添上一份貼心的感覺~
蟄伏3年加入新血－吉他手 Nathan Connolly，在 Polydor 音樂大廠旗下所推出全新大碟【Final Straw】同樣由主唱兼吉他手 Gary Lightbody 所主導，專輯當中的 Same 不難看出 Pink Floyd 對他們的影響，Somewhere a clock is ticking 則讓人聯想 Coldplay 及 Radiohead。分明的節奏毫無拖泥帶水之嫌，粗糙不粉飾的編曲建構暢快的嘶吼空間，加入類環境實驗音效的【Final Straw】，一發行即被英國樂評率先點名為2004年度最佳唱片之一。
《RUN》这首歌曲选自专集 《Final Straw》由 Chris Lord-Alge 担当制作人。他为这张唱片加入了电子乐等时髦的点缀，使得这张唱片更加成熟，更加整体，更加干净。但更重要的是与此同时音乐中也保留了乐队原有的田园气息。无论什么时候，淳朴，吉他和旋律，才是 Snow Patrol 的本质！
