关于blame... for以及blame... on

blame... for 和 blame... on都有把...... 归咎于的意思,其搭配关系和含义却有所不同。

blame... for 中的blame后主要接受责备的人,for后主要接事物名词或动名词,表示受责备的原因。表示因某事而受责备或把某事的责任归咎于某人的意思。例如:
He blamed me for my careless. 他责备我疏忽大意。
The manager blamed the office boy for losing the accident. 经理责怪办公室的勤杂工丢了钥匙。

blame... on 中的blame后主要接事物名词(不能接动名词),on后既接事物名词,亦可接表示人的名词,on还可用on to替换。表示把某事的责任归咎于(或推卸到,怪罪到)某人或某事身上,往往暗含有责备得不合理、不公平的意味。例如:
He blamed his failure on his teacher. 他把自己的失败归咎于老师。
You can't blame the rise in price on the government. 你们不能把价格的上涨归罪于政府。

从下面两句,可以看出二者的区别:
The driver blamed the cyclist for the accident.
司机把事故的责任归咎于骑自行车的人。
The driver blamed the accident on to the cyclist.
