What is science about?

Science is all about finding out how and why things happen in the world around you.

科学就是发现你身边的事情是怎么发生和为什么发生的。

It's about everyday things like finding out why somebody catches a cold,how planes can fly in the air and why we need water to live.

它就是关于日常生活的各种事物，比如找出为什么一个人会感冒，飞机是怎样在空中飞行，为什么我们需要水来生存。

Science can help us explain why dinosaurs are extinct now.

科学可以帮我们解释为什么恐龙现在灭绝了。

Science helps us understand how our world works.

科学帮助我们理解我们的世界是怎样工作的。

In science,we find out what happens and why some things happen in our world.

在科学里，我们找出发生了什么，为什么一些事情会在我们的世界里发生。

Why do we need medicine when we are ill?

How can we see stars in the sky?

What do scientists do?

One of the first things scientists do is to ask questions.

科学家的第一件事就是问问题。

Then they try to answer the questions by looking closely at things.

然后他们试图去接近这些事物来找出问题的答案。

But who are scientists?

但谁是科学家呢？

Please look at the pictures and tell us why they need to study science to do their job.

A great scientist

一位伟大的科学家

Albert Einstein,a great scientist,told a story about his childhood.

阿尔伯特 爱因斯坦，一位伟大的科学家，给我们讲过一个关于他童年的故事。

He said his interest in science all came about one day when he was playing with a compass his father had given him.

他说他对于科学的兴趣是来自于一天他玩爸爸给他的一个指南针。

The compass made him interested in science and he studied the compass carefully.

指南针让他对科学感兴趣，并且他认真地研究了指南针。

He began to understand how it worked.

他开始明白指南针是怎样工作的。

"Games,all games have to be fun and have to make you think.

游戏，所有的游戏应该有趣，并能让你思考。

They have to　bring new ideas into your head, answer all your whys."

A compass to Einstein did not mean much,but his careful thinking helped him work harder at new things.
