"used to", as most commonly utilized

when referring to something that has happened in the past

Jim used to bike to work until he bought a car

Anna used to live in Christchurch
安娜曾经住在基督城
Notice that in these two sentences
注意,在这两句话中
what used to be is now no longer
曾经的一切已经不复存在
Jim doesn't still bike to work
吉姆现在不骑车上班了
and Anna no longer lives in Christchurch
安娜也不再住在基督城了
"used to" can also be incorporated into questions
used to也可以在问句中使用
Remember that we use the helping verb "did"
还记得吗?当提问时,我们将助动词did
before the subject when asking questions?
放到了主语的前面
Did people used to live long in the 17th Century?
