JENNY:OK.OK.Let's change the subject! What did you do on SatUrday,Tom?
TOM:(不好意思地说)What did I do? Er…Well, you won't believe this but actually... I watched TV.
JENNY: Watched TV on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? You'rejoking!
TOM: Well, my daughter wanted to watch, and... um... it was only for about an hour. Anyway, I went to sleep.
JENNY: Went to sleep! What was the programme?

2. EXPRESSIONS TO DRAW OTHER PEOPLE INTO A CONVERSATION 让别人参加谈话的说法
You're very quiet (Tom).
(Richard) What do you think(of that)?
用反意疑问句便对方答话,这样就可以使对方参加谈话,或使对话顺利进行下去。
A. It's alovely day, isn't it?
B. Yes,it is.
A. You're Mr Lee: aruen,t you?
B. No, I'm not. (My friend here is Mr Lee.)
反意疑问句句尾可以用降调(如第一例)
表示说话人对所说内容相当有把握;句尾也可以用升调(如第二例),表示说话人对所说内容把握不大。

第四部分:背景资料

袋鼠

澳大利亚本地的动物大都是有袋动物。雌性有袋动物的腹部有育儿袋。袋鼠是一种大的有袋动物。它前肢短小,后肢粗大,善于跳跃。它的尾巴粗而长,在跳跃或站立时有助于保持平衡。
Tom, Jenny和Richard乘的渡船从Taronga动物园旁边经过,在这个动物园里就呵以看到袋鼠。
你在广播里还可以听到一首歌,选自澳大利亚的一个电视节目,这个节目叫做Skippy因为其中有一只袋鼠名叫Skippy。
歌词是这样的:
