The amount of ocean fish has not increased, but fish farm production has. (Para. 8)

Meaning: Although there has been no increase in the amount of ocean fish, more fish are coming from fish farms.

fish farm production: production of fish on farms; raising fish on farms 水场养殖

amount: n. quantity, total

Large amounts of money were spent on the bridge.

建造这座桥花了许多钱。

The food bill was an unbelievable amount of money.

用餐费多得难以置信。

That amount will not be enough to serve six people. You will have to cook more.

这些食物不够6个人吃，得再做一点。

Please notice that "amount" is used with uncountable nouns. With plurals it is better to use "number". Study the following phrases:

the amount of money

钱的数额

the number of mistakes

错误的数量

"Amount" can be used as a verb, too.

v. equal to

The words in the composition amount to 500.

这篇作文的字数达到了500个。

Also notice that when "amount" is used as a verb it always takes the preposition "to".
