Up to now we have learned four verbal phrases beginning with the verb "turn", that is, "turn on", "turn off", "turn up" and "turn down". Don't get confused (混淆) with their meanings. When you turn on a radio, it begins to produce sound. But when you turn it off, it produces no sound at all. Almost the same way, when you turn a radio up, the sound it produces gets louder. But when you turn it down, the sound becomes weaker. Actually, the phrases are two groups of antonyms (反义词), phrases of the opposite meanings: turn on and turn off; turn up and turn down.
