1. train这里做动词，表示培养，训练；我们说的培训中心英文就是 training center。

The firm trained its employees to be more efficient.

公司培训员工,使他们办事效率更高。

She was trained for nursing.

她被培养成护士。

2. outstrip，超过，胜过。

His newspaper outstripped its rivals in circulation.

他的报纸在发行量上超过了他的对手。

3. supply,在段中做名词，表示供应，提供。 supply and demand,供求。

段中说到 The demand is outstripping the supply.意思是需求大于供应，也就是供不应求。 供不应求也可用下面这句话来表示。

The supply is unable to meet the demand.
