U.S. space shuttle Endeavour and its crew of seven has successfully returned to Earth, wrapping up what they described as a "two-week adventure" at the International Space Station.

The shuttle made a rare nighttime touchdown at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

NASA administrator Michael Griffin appreciated the efforts of the teams both on the ground and off.

"We're grateful to the crew and we're grateful to all the people behind the crew who made this happen: our Canadian partners, our Japanese partners, our industrial partners here in this country. It all just came together like clockwork,"

Endeavour's flight was the longest shuttle mission to the International Space Station, where crew members conducted a record of five space walks.
