Spectators at the 2008 Olympic Games will have an opportunity to get a close-up look at a handful of giant pandas during a special exhibition at the Beijing Zoo.

The Wolong National Natural Reserve in southwestern China's Sichuan province and the Beijing Zoo are making arrangements for eight pandas to be displayed in Beijing by the end of May. People can cast votes for their favorite pandas from the 16 candidates via the Internet, all of whom were born in 2007.

A director at the Beijing Zoo says the capital will build an exclusive exhibition venue for the pandas.

"The newly built panda exhibition venue is a two-story building. It has a 370-square-meter indoor exhibition area and a 450-square-meter outdoor exhibition area."

Organizers say the eight pandas will live a good life in their new home.

The panda exhibition venue is scheduled to be open to the public on May 30th.
