An exhibition celebrating the 110th anniversary of the late Chinese premier Zhou Enlai's birthday has opened at The National Art Museum of China.

The exhibition includes postcards of The Gleaners and The Age of Bronze that Zhou Enlai sent to China when he was studying in France. His handwritten comments on the backs of the postcards are of particular interest for many museum visitors.

Fan Di'an is the director of the National Art Museum of China.

"From the comments, we can see Zhou Enlai has a very deep and comprehensive understanding of art. We can also feel his concern for the artists, which is significant to the development of Chinese art."

Paintings and photographs demonstrating his revolutionary life and involvement in artistic activities make up the rest of the exhibition.

Zhou Enlai, the first premier of the People's Republic of China, was born on March 5, 1898.
